Entry: Favourite time Thursday, July 20, 2006



My favourite time of the day is when the kids go to bed.  No!  Not like that.  Not because of the peace and quiet!

I love the 15 minutes of "free" time when Tommie baths them.  They then come and give me huge hugs and kisses, get into bed and wait for me to read for them.  I sit on their bed, mostly read two stories (one chooses by each boy).  Jason *always* chooses the three pigs.  I have given the pigs each a name - my boys' names.  Jason loves it.  Quintus mostly chooses bible stories.  He knows the bible way better than me.  Then we talk about their day.  I ask them to tell me about things they are thankful for.  We pray, share more hugs and kisses and they go to sleep.

I just love our bedtime routine.  Some nights (like tonight) I'll be busy working and take a bit longer to get to their room to do our bed time stories.  As I went to their room tonight, I found Quintus under his duvet - fast asleep and I found Jason lying like this.  I felt so bad for taking just that little longer than usual!

Yeah... sometimes I have to stall as our four-year-old beckons me to come in there and lay with him until he falls aslee. I always feel a hint of guilt if he falls asleep alone, but... dishes must be washed and the dog needs to pee.

I love how sweet and innocent they look when they're sleeping. And that is especially precious. :)

Bedtime is my favorite time too. But unlike you, it's cuz I love the peace and quiet. Heh.

you know- i still read to damien sometimes- although we've graduated over the years from disney's "dumbo" to "treasure island" to "tarka the otter" to terry pratchett's "johnny..." stories and harry potter!

* I LOVE LOVE your new hair cut. I want my hair like THAT!!!!

* Jason is just too cute in that karate gear. Ag shame to him.

* You are seriously such a wonderful mother. Don't feel bad if you took a bit longer than usual. At least you make the effort, which is more than I can say for myself.

* I have received the stuff you ordered. I will be visiting the post office tomorrow and will send it to you via Speed Services.

Look how peaceful he looks??? Those are the best moments aren't they???

I know what you mean though, bedtime routine is my favorite too, you get to just BE with yourself and your kids. You talk quietly, you read, you laugh and then it's time for everyone to sleep. Perfect end to a perfect day :)
